Our stories in time

Stories about things that were
And some that were not
Taking these walks together
To the beginning of time where it all began and changed our worlds
To moments where everything stood still

And to ones when it didn’t make any sense at all

When did we start really ?
Peeping through these windows together
Looking back
Imagining what it was like perhaps
Getting into each other’s pensieves

Replaying
So many of those lost and forgotten memories in our heads
It almost feels like a movie now
When I imagine you at a different time
Incomprehensible
And yet, there you are
Walking to school with your mother
Blanking out just before you did something major
Getting scared in the shadows as you played with your friends as a child
Laughing your heart out when you were out in the wild
Is it weird that I have clear images of all of those in my head now ?
Its funny how we spend so much of our present on our pasts
Telling so many stories, all of them

With this strange sense of urgency

Whether it is to wane in self pity or to gloat in glory

We really do rush into these things, don’t we ?

I imagine us lying down on the grass under the stars
Lets watch a meteor shower, you’ll see why
And there
I see your memories
I live them rather
With you

Walking deeper each time

Into childhood obsessions and teenage rebellions

Saccharine kisses and shattering heartbreaks

Your long haired phase and all my favorite birthday cakes

Flaws we diagnosed in ourselves

Regrets
We keep going back to talk about
Our deepest fears
And those grand ambitious plans

We could go on today
We are, after all  in a trance
It creeps in then
Unnoticed and sudden in this maze of vague timelines
Like those shooting stars above our heads
We shift to the unknown in a blink
Spiral  into this vacant abyss we call the future
Like some hyper velocity stars
Escaping our galaxies into this never ending space

Time is still and moving now – all at once

My imagination stops here

It feels like the end now

I find myself in newer different stories
And think about what yours are like with all that I have lived with you in my head

We’re still spacebound, directionless

But at some obscure point in time

I imagine meeting you 

In a story of one brief encounter away from our galaxies

We could catch up on our brand new histories then

Or maybe not – I’m uncertain
Only this time around,

Time would no longer be what it is today

Time, in all its enormity

Would pause for us that day
