Love

Love cracked and chipped off
Like pieces of a broken pot
The one we made for art class when we were six
We stuck little things to it, fabric painted all over
Like tiny pieces of glass
Love fell and scattered across the floor
And like withered paint, it came off in my hands
In little sheets
Corroded by the air we breathe
It blew away
When I lost my mind and you sighed
While we looked away from each other
Every time we thought we couldn’t stand another second together
And we let go of each other’s hands
When I wiped my tears off to save myself
And you decided to look away
Love drowned
The day you appeared out of the blue and I shut my eyes
Not because I hate you now, but it just hurt so bad
When I couldn’t look at you smiling
Your sunshine would do away my clouds you see
With every single fight
While we held on to our neatly listed points why we were right
Love faded
Broke
Quietly
While we weren’t looking
While we kept telling ourselves – we are okay
Love slipped through our fingers
Love died.
